Many years ago I used manifestation techniques without even knowing it! I bought a card that had a photo of a beach on it. The card said “I need a six month vacation, twice a year” I had this card pinned up in my little home office and I would stare at it longingly when I was stressed at work and felt trapped in my job. I would imagine being on that beach without a care in the world. When I moved to Costa Rica, it was one of the knick knacks I brought with me, because I always thought it was a little cute and funny, and it didn't weigh anything in my case! Using a toucan shaped magnet, I pinned it to the fridge in my new kitchen and that’s where it sits now.
After I settled into my new life in Costa Rica, I realised that I was living the message on the card. It had come to fruition. It was something I manifested, just like my tropical life here, which I had envisioned for years before I finally achieved it.
Even though I had unwittingly used manifestation techniques, I had no clue what manifestation was until a few years ago. To me, manifestation conjured up images of magic, witches, and lotions and potions. I’ve no idea where this came from (maybe from Disney’s Sword in the Stone?!) but over the last few years it’s become a pretty mainstream thing. Manifestation is the practice of bringing your dreams and desires into reality through positive thinking, intention setting, and focused action
You may know people that seem to effortlessly attract success, always winning things or seem to have a lot of joy and abundance in their lives. They might be using manifestation techniques to align their thoughts and energy with their goals.
Maybe you want to attract good things into your life and have never considered manifestation. Let’s look at some of the most powerful manifestation techniques you can use to start creating the life you desire. These methods will help you focus your energy, set clear intentions, and bring your dreams into reality.
By shifting your mindset to focus on what you want to achieve, and then taking deliberate steps to make it happen, you can make your dreams and wishes come true. Using techniques to overcome invisible enemies like limiting beliefs, you can channel your energy toward your desires and become more aware of opportunities that will help you succeed.
One of the most popular and effective manifestation techniques is visualisation. When you do this, you create vivid images in your mind of what you want to achieve and imagining that it’s already happening. Sometimes people have a five year or ten year plan. You could say this is a form of visualisation. When you know what goals you want to achieve and visualise them clearly, it strengthens your self-belief in actually achieving them and spurs you on towards your dreams. Visualisation is a method used by many successful sports stars.
How to Practice Visualisation:
Find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably.
Close your eyes and imagine your ideal life or specific goal in as much detail as possible.
Engage all your senses—what do you see, hear, feel, and even smell?
Picture yourself already living that life, experiencing the success, joy, or abundance you desire.
Practice visualising for at least 5-10 minutes each day to help reinforce your belief in your goals.
Affirmations are statements that are in the present, personal and positive, and one of the most recognised manifestation techniques. When you repeat them to yourself, you reinforce your belief in achieving your goals. They work by overriding doubt and instilling self-confidence to help you focus on the positive outcomes you want. And when you use them regularly, affirmations can help you replace limiting beliefs and boost your motivation to take action.
How to Use Affirmations:
Write down 3-5 affirmations that reflect the outcomes you desire as if you already have them. For example, “I deserve my success” or “My inner power grows every day.”
Repeat these affirmations aloud or silently each day, especially in the morning or before bed.
Believe in the truth of these statements as if they already exist, and imagine how your life will change as they come to fruition.
Gratitude is a powerful manifestation tool because it shifts your focus from feeling miserable about yourself or situation, to recognising the blessings in your life. When you appreciate what you already have, you attract more of the same positive energy into your life. I do this every morning when I go to the beach and look at the ocean, feeling the sand between my toes and hearing the sound of the waves. It's such a different way to start my day compared to when I used to commute into London and I am eternally grateful for it. Practicing gratitude helps raise your vibration, which is key to manifesting your desires.
How to Start a Gratitude Practice:
Keep a gratitude journal and write down 3-5 things you’re grateful for each day.
Or on a piece of paper, write something down daily that you’re grateful for. Put it in a jar and at the end of the year you’ll have 365 examples of what's wonderful in your life.
Be specific about what you’re thankful for, whether it’s good health, supportive relationships, or small daily joys.
As you write, feel the emotion of gratitude. The more you focus on the positive, the more positive experiences you’ll attract.
One of the most powerful manifestation techniques is scripting. This involves writing about your desired life or goal as if it has already happened. This process helps you clarify your intentions and connect emotionally with your future success. You can even write a letter to your future self or to the universe, stating all the things you want to achieve as if you already have them. When you script, you engage your subconscious mind to start looking for ways to make your vision a reality.
How to Practice Scripting:
Grab a notebook and start writing in the present tense as if your goal has already been achieved.
Describe how you feel, what you’re doing, and what has changed in your life. Use all your senses in your writing to make it more visceral.
For example, instead of writing, “I want to be financially free,” script as if you’re already there: “I am so grateful for the financial freedom I have. I wake up each day feeling relaxed and confident, knowing my finances are in perfect order.”
Review and update your script regularly to keep your energy aligned with your desires.
Meditation is a manifestation tool that helps you calm your mind, focus your thoughts, and tap into your intuition. Contrary to popular belief, meditation is not about clearing the mind, which is virtually impossible. Instead it’s about having focussed awareness on one thing and turning down all the background noise so that you can gain clarity without interference. Oh and by the way, you only need three things for meditation: a comfortable seat, silence and stillness (three Ss!)
How to Use Meditation for Manifestation:
Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed, and sit comfortably.
Focus on your breath.
Let go of any distractions.
Visualise your desires as if they’ve already manifested, or simply focus on a positive affirmation during your meditation.
Meditation is hard and view it as a muscle that needs to be developed. Aim to meditate for 5-15 minutes daily to enhance your focus and manifestation practice.

A vision board is a visual representation of your goals and desires. It’s a powerful manifestation tool that helps you keep your dreams front and centre. By surrounding yourself with images and words that reflect your aspirations, you’ll stay inspired and motivated to take action.
How to Create a Vision Board:
Gather magazines, printouts, or images that represent your goals (e.g., a dream home, vacation, or financial success).
Cut them out and paste them onto a board or large piece of paper.
Place your vision board somewhere you’ll see it often, such as your bedroom or office.
You can even create an electronic one and have it as your screensaver
Every day, spend a few moments looking at your vision board, visualising and feeling the emotions of already achieving your goals.
The art of letting go is another technique that is used in manifestation. Once you’ve set your intentions and visualised your goals, it’s important to release attachment to the outcome. Trust that the universe will bring your desires to you at the right time and in the right way and avoid grasping for the outcome or stressing over when it will happen. As a result, by letting go of control, you allow the natural flow of abundance into your life.
How to Practice Letting Go:
Focus on taking inspired action toward your goals but remain open to different paths and opportunities.
Don’t stress or obsess over how and when things will manifest.
Believe and trust, knowing that what is meant for you will come to you when the time is right.
Manifestation is a powerful practice that can transform your life when used consistently. By incorporating the various techniques, you’ll align your thoughts and actions with your deepest desires. Remember, the key is to stay focused, take inspired action, and trust the process 💫
